I have just spent the last 4 hours with the FSX version of the RealAir Spitfire and what a fantastic aircraft it is.
It has taken a year to develop, has new models, new flight dynamics which are probably the most realistic of any FS aircraft I have flown, and a selection of completely new model variants. The best payware aircraft I have ever flown, bar none. This is just stunning! What a great job. Bill's scenery is great too, so nice to have something really good in period.
I'm not sure what I have in FSX that is better done than this. This plane is a joy to fly. It is smooooooth. ....it's every bit as good as I thought it would be..actually bought a lump to my throat....possibly because I can see it has been a labour of love by these guys..it is an amazing aircraft, bought loads of payware none has effected me like this Spitfire X. I don't know whether to laugh or to cry! I've just had one of the best one-hour's flying sessions in a long time......It truly is a magnificent aircraft to fly....and will, just as did the 2004 version, be regarded as a standard of excellence in the Sim community. Its sooo fantastic!! The flying is so perfect and I love the sound. I never had so much fun with an airplane. Thanks for such a great add-on!! It's the quality I've come to expect from RealAir. I've been waiting for this bird for a long, long time. I flew it just once so far with the included scenery, and I was totally impressed. If you read this, Rob, thanks again. It was worth the wait. I'm having a hard time comprehending the beauty and perfection of this package, and I've only flown one plane. lol The sound, visuals and flight model - I guess thats the whole plane - stand out as the most highly refined I have seen. I simply love the sound and the texture art is amazing. ....Thank you very much Rob and Sean for creating what is to me the best add on in the history of flight sim. I am quite certain nobody out there can top you guys, at least in my mind. Truly a masterpiece and the pinnacle crowning star of FS aircraft design. |
Believe me, I don't usually gush about such things, but it's hard to resist when you experience something so beautifully done. I thoroughly appreciate all the work you have put into this project, and can only say now that my wait was worth it. Very seldom do I write to flightsim developers, but I feel you need to hear this. I am a graphic designer and digital illustrator and am especially sensitive to the quality of anything graphic. ..... this Spitfire is the best piece of aircraft simulation I have seen yet. The attention to detail like the shiny bolts and satin texture on the windscreen frame are a case in point. ....the low roar heard in the external view after the plane passes is the most realistic sound I have heard in a flight sim product. All aspects of this release, from the sound, to the VC, to the exterior model are absolutely spectacular. If you even remotely like the Spit (and who doesn't?) you owe it to yourself to get this. Even if you don't, you should get it to see what FSX is capable of! She is truly awesome!! RealAir have made an absolute gem again. It's unbelievably good on frame rates considering the amount of detail in the VC and exterior model, and there is lots of choice livery wise too. It's a must buy, nuff said. I have just downloaded the Real Air Spitfire FSX and I am absoloutely blown away with it! Believe me, I take some pleasing! I have just had 20 minutes with the Mk.1X and can honestly say this is as near to flying a full size aircraft as I have come across on a simulator so far. The cockpit is very clear with everything perfectly readable and the engine sound is just as you would imagine it to be especially when doing a fly-by looking from the tower view - that Merlin sound is magic! The flight model is entirely believable requiring a subtle touch with small, but constant adjustments required especially during take off and landing. You really do have to fly this aircraft. I could go on for ever about how the aircraft handles from the pre-stall buffet at one end of the speed range to the increasingly heavy controls at the other but you really need to try it for yourself. I find it hard to believe how the external textures could be improved, they are so good. Incidentally, I have no conection with RealAir other than as a very satisfied customer. Buy it now, it's what FSX has been waiting for. |
